Annamalai University, one of the largest residential universities in Southern Asia, was established and incorporated in the year 1929 as per the Annamalai University Act, 1928 (Tamil Nadu Act1 of 1929). Then the Annamalai University Act, of 1928 was repealed and replaced with the AnnamalaiUniversity Act, of 2013 (Tamil Nadu Act 20 of 2013). This university has, since its inception, aimed at imparting education in all fields of knowledge to thousands of students from all over the country and abroad. This University has grown into a premier institution of higher learning and research in the past 92 years. The Annamalai University DDE (Directorate of Distance Education) was established in 1979 and offered different Programmes of Study. It is credited with the biggest enrolment and is well equipped with a computer and other infrastructure. This university has also the unique distinction of being the first in India, to offer Postgraduate Degree Programmes in Applied Psychology, Chemistry, Physics, Botany, Zoology, and Computer Science through Distance Education mode.
The Annamalai University Distance Education initially became a Centre for Correspondence and Continuing Education in 1979. Annamalai University Distance Admission Procedure
The University is offering his UG, PG, and Diploma and Certificate courses for admission. Students who cannot attend regular classes can take distance learning at the university, which has over 200 majors. Interested students can apply for their AUDDE UG&PG course online mode before the final date.

Annamalai University Distance Education Eligibility Criteria
Where a degree is prescribed as the basic qualification for admission to a program, only those applicants who have passed the qualifying examination under the pattern of 10+2+3 or 11+2+2 or 11+1+3 years will be eligible for admission to the programs
Candidates having a direct U.G. / P.G. Degree passed through OUS are not eligible. Degrees awarded by Universities/Colleges/ Institutes that are not recognized by the University Grants Commission are not eligible for admission to the programs offered by the Directorate of Distance Education.
Applicants who have passed the qualifying examination under the pattern of 10+2+3 or 11+2+2 or 11+1+3 The Students have to complete the program (P.G. / U.G.) (Theory and Practical / Project) within 3 years / 2 Years [Period = N + 3] from the year of completion of a period of study, failing which, their registration will stand automatically canceled and they have to register afresh if they want to continue the program. The students should have paid the program fee for all the years of study before the last date specified.
